Turkish-American film Kedi by Ceyda Torun, which closed DOKer 2017, was finally released in Russia and in a single month earned 6 million rubles (more than $100K), becoming the highest-grossing documentary of the year in Russia. The film was watched by more than 30 thousand viewers.
This year 25 nonfiction films came out on the Russian screens. Following Kedi, according to the number of viewers, these were the next popular films: Dancer by Steven Cantor, Voyage of Time: Life's Journey by Terrence Malick, The Man Who Was Too Free by Vera Krichevskaya and David Lynch: The Art Life by Jon Nguyen, Rick Barnes & Olivia Neergaard-Holm.
