OVER THE LIMIT TO OPEN DOKER

Over the Limit by Marta Prus

Moscow International Documentary Film Festival DOKer will open at the October Cinema Center on April 13 with the Russian premiere of Over the Limit directed by Marta Prus and produced by Maciej Kubicki and Anna Kępińska for Telemark.

Over the Limit is an intimate portrait of the world’s most outstanding rhythmic gymnast Margarita Mamun, who has to face not only her competitors, but also her own limitations on her way to the Olympic laurels in Rio de Janeiro. The film is also a unique opportunity to look at rhythmic gymnastics from the inside, in the place which is the cradle of talents in this field. The film was very well received at the 30-th IDFA in Amsterdam and is more and more successful around the world.

"An almost perfect film. Plays with the classical dramaturgical rules in terms of characters and rythm – positive mood and development, crisis, winning, losing, crisis as a gymnast, crisis because of her father’s illness, music that fits, brilliant camerawork, it’s like an opera or a ballet, great pleasure to look at this film with its universal appeal: Trust yourself, find yourself, the tough and direct coach is right in much of what she is saying. Another masterly done Polish documentary!"

– Filmkommentaren – Tue Steen Muller, the Danish film expert, DOKer Jury member
