AL DJANAT — THE ORIGINAL PARADISE

After the death of her uncle, a dignitary Mandingo Islam, the director films her family courtyard. A dispute over the estate has burst out between advocates of traditional law and proponents of official law, inherited from European colonization. The courtyard becomes the theater where the future of an emblematic family is played out.

CHLOÉ AÏCHA BORO

 

Franco-Burkinabé writer and filmmaker. After studying modern literature, she began working as a journalist in the press, radio and television. Her novel "Paroles d'orpheline" was published by L'Harmattan. Since 2012 she has been an independent director of documentaries. In 2017 Boro released the film "France-aurevoir, le nouveau commerce triangulaire". Documentary "Le loup d’or de Balolé", made in 2019 got Etalon d'Or for documentaire – FESPACO, Grand prize for documentary – URUSARO International Film, Rwanda, Human Rights Award - Festival Vues d'Afrique, (Montreal), Special Jury Mention – Festival Ecrans noirs in Yaoundé and Festival Cinéma du monde in Guadeloupe, IDFA, FIPADOC. She’s actually developing her first fiction film called “Démocrazie”.
